How to expand a language

In 2018, Automattic's Creative Studio partnered with the agency Design Studio to update our visual brand. The Creative Studio was given the initial stylistic elements and then set to developing them across our various channels and projects.

I was tasked with adapting the visuals to suit a wide range of digital marketing channels, including email, social, and display.

My main focus was establishing a consistent use of color, shape, and stock photography. Our digital teams didn't have the budget to create new photography, so the brand style needed to work in a way that gave us dynamic but consistent creative while only using stock imagery.

The resulting work included some of our highest-performing social ads. Because who doesn't love a Corgi?
